Andy
Slifko has been involved in monster trucks for 11 years and motor
sports for much longer. As an ex-drag racer, Slifko enjoys the
adrenaline rush Eradicator gives every time the truck fires up.
Slifko
started his career behind the wheel of the Eradicator ride truck, and
after gaining a tremendous amount of experience controlling such a
huge machine, moved into racing full-time. In 2004, Slifko won the
USHRA’s Most Improved Driver award. Slifko stays close with his fans
and is always personable before and after competition.
“The
way I see it, if the fans didn’t come out to the shows, I wouldn’t
have a job,” says Slifko. “I am here to entertain the fans and do
a good job, and any support I get is phenomenal!”
At
home, Slifko runs two auto shops in his native
Schuylkill
Valley
in the coal region of
Pennsylvania
. He can be found cruising on his Harley-Davidson and spending time
with his two boys, Jed (19) and Jeremy (17).
Slifko
and Eradicator have been featured on TNN, ESPN, ESPN2, SPEED Channel,
and has even had photos in Sports Illustrated. For a driver who has been around the world,
Slifko is down to earth and one of the hardest-running independent
drivers on the tour. His philosophy for monster trucks is simple—run
accordingly, and consistency is key.
“I
always try to do what the promoters want during the shows. I like
running good, solid shows and being consistent among the top trucks in
the world,” he says.
